Excuse is illness?: ED said- When we went to Satyendra Jain's room in the hospital, it was such a sight, wife was also presents Essence
Jain was arrested on May 30 under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He was first sent to police custody and then to judicial custody. The ED had earlier attached assets worth Rs 4.81 crore of Jain's family and companies beneficially owned and controlled by them as part of a money laundering probe against them.
On the lines of West Bengal, the Enforcement Directorate has filed a petition in the High Court seeking medical examination of Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain arrested in money laundering case in hospitals like AIIMS, RML or Safdarjung Hospital. Jain is currently admitted in the state government-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital. The ED has argued that Jain is healthy and admitted to the hospital on the pretext of illness. The hospital administration is helping them in this.
In the application filed by the ED before Justice Yogesh Khanna seeking to transfer Jain to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, or Safdarjung Hospital, the ED argued that an independent assessment of his health was needed. needed because they are healthy.
The probe agency claimed that on June 27, the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case went to LNJP Hospital where he found that Jain was sleeping undisturbed on the patient's bed and even the multipara patient monitor was switched off. He was not being monitored with any medical equipment and his wife was present in the room. When the IO arrived in the room, the defendant immediately put on an oxygen mask, BP equipment belt, and turned on the monitor. The fact remains that prima facie the condition of the respondent is not such that he can be admitted to the hospital.

The ED had also filed an application regarding the issue before the trial court but it was rejected by the court. The Enforcement Directorate has challenged the July 6 order of the trial court. The probe agency said that Jain, who was holding the charge of health minister in the Delhi government, is being featured prominently on the home page of the LNJP hospital's website. Also displayed on a plaque in the hospital commemorating the inauguration by him as a guest. The ED said they raised the issue during the hearing on Jain's interim bail but the court rejected his request and fixed July 29 for hearing seeking a response from LNJP Hospital.
The Enforcement Directorate has serious doubts as to whether Jain's true medical condition will be found at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital or GB Pant Hospital as the officer, being Delhi's health minister, is under influence. The ED's plea said that Jain should be examined either at AIIMS, RML or Safdarjung Hospital.
